A Goodbye Kiss

Or, "Why being in France can make one feel rather lonely"

I find myself to be inspired by sitting on trains. I currently have four different windows open as a sudden surge of ideas came into my cranium... and I feel unable to write them all at once. So, as much as the French train system hates me, it often jump-starts the creative juices flowing in my brain, as well as letting me witness different things that I would not see, say, sitting alone in my room looking at pictures of cats with funny captions (I can haz cheezburger, I can haz YOUR SOUL). Today's image: the kiss goodbye.

Now, PDA I've gotten used to here for the simple fact that it's everywhere: coffee shops, bars, parks, stores, school hallways, etc. But every time that I see couples embracing on the train platform, it's almost a jarring experience. It's emotional, it's poignant, and I often catch myself getting lost wondering what the story is behind that kiss goodbye.

I will admit, I'm quite the romantic when it comes to imagining other people's love stories. They are tragic, beautiful, and joyous stories. Sometimes they end with a happy ending – being reunited soon or long after that fateful kiss on the platform; sometimes they end in sorrow, with that one moment  serving as the ending to a grand affairbefore mounting the train. Whatever the story, it is much more great than the story of my own life, where I serve only as a spectator to these fanciful love stories. It makes me feel as though I'm a part of something much greater than my own life while at the same time making me feel extremely... alone.

That's it, really, that's all I have to say. I have an overactive imagination that is capable of creating these sensational stories of love and loss and joy and longing simply from witnessing a kiss, a moment in time, on the train platform, yet it is incapable of fabricating such a story for itself in the real world.

(Oh, and if you didn't catch the "I can haz your soul" reference, it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAfpq6EPKck
